To setup an operational system you will need, at a minimum:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

1. Two B9X GUI Modules: B9X Basic GUI Developer Module \u2013 B9X Electronics<\/a><\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n
2. B9X Voice Server 3 Client Version: B9X Voice Server \u2013 3 Client Licensed Version \u2013 B9X Electronics<\/a><\/h6>\n\n\n\n
3. FTP Client \u2013 WinSCP Version 6.3.4 And Above: https:\/\/winscp.net\/eng\/download.php<\/a><\/h6>\n\n\n\n
4. Serial Terminal \u2013 TeraTerm Version 5.6.1 And Above: https:\/\/teratermproject.github.io\/index-en.html<\/a><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Connecting The B9X GUI Module To Wifi.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Open the Windows device manager and locate the section for COM ports. Connect the B9X GUI Module to your PC using the provided USB Cable. The COM port, of the module will be added. Remember this port name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Using your serial terminal program, connect to the serial port, that you just found, of the module. We typically use Tera Term 5.6.1 or above as the serial terminal program<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Press the reset button of the module.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. As it boots you will see the boot menu. The Boot menu provides all of the module’s configuration. Press the ‘w’ character and press enter. You have 4 seconds to press ‘w’ and Enter. It should now ask you for the SSID of your Wifi router. Enter it and press Enter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. You will now be asked for the Wifi password. Enter it and press Enter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. It will now ask you if you want to save these settings and press ‘y’ key and press enter.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Setting The Module To Have A Static IP<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    1. Reset your module and when you see the boot menu press ‘i’ then press Enter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. You will now be asked for the network parameters for a static ip.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Provide this information as prompted. Make sure to select an ip that is not used by another device.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Set an obfuscated B9X secret<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
      \"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

      This feature is used to set secret keys and values that you don’t want exposed in your “main.bas’ code. We will be setting the key for connecting to the B9X Voice Server. This value is set as secret key 2. In your basic program you can reference this key as string variable ‘b9x_key2$’. Up to 5 keys can be defined and are of the format ‘b9x_keyN$’ where ‘N’ is the key number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      1. Reset the module. When you see the boot menu press ‘k’ then press Enter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. You will then be prompted for the key number you want to set. In this case we will set the value for key 2. This key is the default key used for connecting to B9X Voice Server. This key is publically know and should be changed to your own value.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Now you enter the publically known key for connecting to B9X Voice Server. Type or copy\/paste the characters: JZ624RAS127878AF901C423910763350 and press enter. The key for the server has to be exactly 32 characters long.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        This completes connecting your module to Wifi. Now every time the module boots it will connect to your router. It will additionally set the internal clock using NTP and start the FTP server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Installing A Program To The B9X GUI Module.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

          \n
        1. A lot of information will be shown as the module boots. In this information is the IP assigned to the module by DHCP. Remember this IP. Start your FTP program and connect to the module using the IP you found. The ftp server of the module has username ‘admin’ and password of ‘admin’ with default port of 21. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. Load the ‘main.bas’ of the app you want to run. You should see it in the root directory of the module. You should also load any ‘*.bmp’ files the app may use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. Press the reset button of the module. From your serial terminal you should finally see ‘Program Started’ or any syntax errors in the ‘main.bas’ app.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        4. If there are errors, fix the errors, reload the app, and press Enter. Continue this until there are no errors. The serial terminal and the reset button is the primary way to debug applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        5. The module always looks for an app saved as ‘main.bas’. This app will always execute on boot. ‘main.bas’ can call functions in other ‘.bas’ files with any ‘<\/em>.bas’ name you provide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        6. Now we are going to load the B9X Radio program. Download this zip file to a know place. It contains all the files needed to run B9XRadio Handie-Talkie program.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
          B9XRadio<\/a>Download<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

          We are going to load the B9XRadio Handie-Talkie main.bas file and the background bmp named ‘background.bmp’ . This app is error free and connects to B9XVoice Server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          The module uses FTP to save programs for execution on the module. You can use a FTP client or Windows Explorer. We found it easier to transfer apps to the module using WinSCP Version 6.3.4 or above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Using your FTP program, upload the two files to the module. Press the reset button and the B9X Radio program should load.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Using the B9X Radio Handie-Talkie App.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

          B9X Radio Handie-Talkie works by connecting to B9X Voice Server. Please be sure you have installed B9X Voice Server on a Windows PC. You can find instructions at: B9X Voice Server(TM) \u2013 B9X Electronics<\/a> . SWhen connected, you can talk with other users that are connected. You can also connect a radio to B9X Voice Server. Any B9X Radio can now carry out conversations, over the air, with people on that radio frequency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          The above pictures show B9X Radio with the B9X Radio app running. Make sure you connect a speaker to the jack labeled ‘Speaker’. You must only connect an 8 ohm speaker to this jack. Do not even connect an oscilliscope. The pins must never touch common ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          If you want portable operation you can connect a 3.7 Volt LiPo battery to the battery jack. The one we used is: https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B0FH9XHXRT?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          You click ‘Configure’ to set the server’s host name, password, and connect to B9X Voice Server. The default password of B9X Voice Server is ‘adminPassword’ .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Once connected, you can have a group conversation with people\/radios that are also connected. You will hear audio when not pressing Push To Talk. When you press ‘Push To Talk’, your voice will be heard by all people\/radios connected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          When talking, you will see the Mic bar fluctuate as you press Push To talk and speak. If a battery is 3.7V LIPO battery is connected, you will see if it is charged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
